BARBARA J. NEWKIRK was born in New York City, where she now works as a reading teacher in an elementary school. This is her first book for beginning readers, and it is based on her memories of how hard it was to put her two sons to bed when they were young. Barbara lives in Jamaica, New York, with an aquarium full of fish.

LAURA FREEMAN graduated from the School of Visual Arts and is now a full-time illustrator. She has illustrated several books for beginning readers, and her pictures for this book were inspired by her young son’s nightly antics. Laura lives in New York City with her husband, their son, and their cat named Tina.
