LESLIE JOHNSON was born in Mendacino County, California. She is a cultural anthropologist, and after teaching anthropology for many years, including Native American history and culture, she became interested in writing for young readers. Leslie is the author of I Make Clay Pots, published by Bebop Books. She lives in Seattle, Washington.
KAYERI AKWEKS was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is an enrolled member of the Mohawk Nation in Ontario, Canada. She is a full-time artist and designer, and she has illustrated At the Park for Bebop Books. Kayeri enjoys attending powwows and watching the Fancy Dancers. She has three grown children, and she lives in Forest Grove, Oregon.
