W. NIKOLA-LISA was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He is the author of many popular children's books including BEIN WITH YOU THIS WAY, AMERICA, SUMMER SUN RISIN',and MY TEACHER CAN TEACH...ANYONE!, all published by LEE & LOW BOOKS. A professor of education at National-Louise University in Evanston, Illinois, Nikola lives in Chicago with his wife.

HECTOR VIVEROS LEE was born in Calexico, California. He attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco and has illlustrated many children's books including LEE & LOW's Get Set! Swim! and I HAD A HIPPOPOTAMUS, which he also wrote, and BIG SNOWBALL FIGHT , published by Bebop Books. Hector lives in San Francisco where he is an elementary school teacher.
