PHYLLIS J. PERRY was born in Nevada City, California. She has published over 40 books for children and educators, and she was inspired to write this book by a neighborhood child she often sees playing on a big rock. Phyllis loves to travel and has visited all 50 states in the United States. She also enjoys hiking in Boulder, Colorado, where she lives with her husband.



CHIH-WEI CHANG was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and earned a degree in illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. He is the illustrator of the award-winning BABY BORN, published by LEE & LOW BOOKS. Chih-Wei used his own childhood experiences of playing by himself and using his imagination to help him illustrate this story. He lives in Taipei
