STEPHANIE STUVE-BODEEN lived in Tanzania, Africa, as a Peace Corps volunteer in the 1980s, and it was there that she met the little girl who inspired Elizabeti's Doll. Stephanie has also written two sequels, MAMA ELIZABETI and ELIZABETI'S SCHOOL, both published by LEE & LOW BOOKS. She lives in La Center, Washington, with her husband and their daughters.


CHRISTY HALE has illlustrated several children's books including all the books in the Elizabeti series and Bebop Books' PINATA PARTY. Christy is also a graphic designer and fine artist. She lives in Palo Alto, California with her husband and their daugther.
