LESLÉA NEWMAN was born in Brooklyn, New York. She has been writing stories and poems since she was six years old and has had many children’s books published, including CATS, CATS, CATS! A DAY AT THE FAIR is her first book for beginning readers. She was inspired to write it after spending a day at the 3-County Fair in the town where she currently lives, Northampton, Massachusetts.


LORETTA LOPEZ decided to become an artist in sixth grade, and she went on to earn her BFA at Pratt Institute. She wrote and illustrated THE BIRTHDAY SWAP and illustrated the SAY HOLA TO SPANISH series, all for LEE & LOW BOOKS. A native of El Paso, Texas, Loretta now lives in Montclair, New Jersey, and works as a full-time illustrator.
