PHILLIS GERSHATOR was born in New York City. She worked as a children's librarian and has written several books for children. Her work has received several honors including the Anne Izard Storyteller's Choice Award and selection by "Reading Rainbow." Phillis and her husband live in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where she saw and heard the goat that inspired this story.

SONIA LYNN SADLER was born in Ft. Reilly, Kansas. She studied art at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Parsons School of Design. Sonia works full time as an artist. She enjoys telling stories with her pictures through color, pattern, and movement. Sonia also likes quilting, watching African dance, and listening to family stories. She lives in West New York, New Jersey.
