KAREN HJEMBOE was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She has written many stories for children’s magazines and is currently a reading specialist on the Santo Domingo Pueblo Indian reservation in New Mexico. Karen loves animals. She has six cats, one dog, and two horses. Karen and her husband live in Corrales, New Mexico.




SHELLY HEHENBERGER was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she earned her MFA from the University of Cincinnati. Shelly loves to travel and has a strong interest in Native American cultures, including the Navajo Nation, which she has visited. She lives in Columbia, South Carolina, with her husband and their two cats, Ollie and Orange.
